"I spent a lot of years trying to outrun or outsmart vulnerability by making things certain and definite, black and white, good and bad. My inability to lean into the discomfort of vulnerability limited the fullness of those important experiences that are wrought with uncertainty: Love, belonging, trust, joy, and creativity to name a few."
My name is Jenny Arasi - the name is italian (I get asked that a lot). I am a graduate of The University of Georgia, and I have a big heart for telling stories. I was born here in Atlanta, Georgia, and i've HAD A passion for making movies since I was a little girl playing make believe with my sisters. I grew up to be a television and film fanatic of course!
I THINK MEDIA IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL TOOLS TO TELL STORIES AND CONNECT with PEOPLE - MAny times ON LEVELS there aren't ALWAYS WORDS FOR. Finding the right visuals, sounds, words, score, music... the right mixture of elements that sparks an emotion in the audience is the most amazing challenge. When done well it is pure magic. ONE day I would like to have the ability to do that pairing of elements expertly, may that be as producer, an executive, an editor... I don't know yet. My dream would be to find the perfect niche for my skills and to produce films and TELEVISion that reach and connect with people all over the world.
I studied T.V. and Film Production, Producing, psychology, and all things media at UGA! I also received a certificate in New Media - an area of study that certifies me in expert media skills and new advances in technology. in the program, we learned how to create apps, websites, and graphics, and how to implement social media and technology into other career areas. Over the years, I have taught myself photography and video editing, but During my four years at UGA and three years in the industry thus far, I'VE learned so much about people, the movie prep and shooting process, and PROFESSIONALISM. WITH THAT now I am RUNNING full force after my dream and taking in everything i can from those that have gone before me.
The summer of 2015, I went on the adventure of a lifetime to Los Angeles, California as a part of UGA's prestigious Grady LA Program. In LA, I worked during the days at a production company (assisting a Director with getting her documentary nominated for the OSCARS... and more!). I learned how essential it is to be humble, to work your way forward no matter what is blocking your way, and that the person you are to others in the workplace matters greatly.
Currently, I am working in the film industry in atlanta as a director's Assistant and Producer's Assistant on various projects. Most recently I had the joy of being the director's assistant on a film starring Al pacino.
I BELIEVE THAT OVERCOMING TRIAL THROUGH PERSEVERANCE AND love IS so IMPORTANT AND PART OF MY MISSION TO INSPIRE AND BE INSPIRED IN THIS FIELD! I would love for you to Check out my work, and I hope to work with you!
UPDATE!! I am so excited to announce that my most recent project at UGA, the short film "Human Sexuality" was selected and screened at the Trinity Film Festival in Hartford, Connecticut! It was also accepted to the Marietta FIlm Festival this August. I co-WROTE the Screenplay and served as producer, first assistant director, casting director, locations, title/credit designer, assistant editor, and music supervisor.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED AND TO THE AMAZING CAST AND CREW!
